Freeriding in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis: the perfect way to spend your holiday in Tyrol.

  • Check-in: time to book… and count the hours!

Three times a week, the Fiss-Ladis Ski School team is on hand at the Schlosshotel Fiss to offer advice, enabling you to book your course, right here in the hotel, along with the correct skis from our partner store Sport Schmid. Nothing more stands in the way of a great day of freeriding.

  • The night before: assess your chosen line

On the night prior to your taste of Alpine freedom, you are advised to check the following day’s weather report and avalanche conditions. This isn’t just a safety exercise, it is also a dead-cert way of heightening your sense of anticipation.

  • Breakfast: jump-start your day

Freeriding is strenuous and more exerting than on-piste skiing. A well-balanced breakfast is therefore essential, and at the Schlosshotel Fiss, it’s also a real pleasure.

  • Ski-in: start at the Schlosshotel

A lift takes you straight from the hotel to the piste where your freeride guide will be waiting with the safety equipment. Standard kit always includes a freeride rucksack, avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe. If needed, the ski school will also provide an avalanche airbag.

  • Time to head up the mountain

In the gondola, your ski guide will discuss the day’s ‘lines’ and ‘runs’, which are, of course, tailored to individual ability.

  • Avalanche transceiver and safety equipment check

Before your day of freeriding in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis commences, all safety equipment is checked-over. Where appropriate, the guide will provide advice on how to use it, whilst throwing in a few tips and tricks.

  • Your freeride day: let the fun begin!

At last, we head off into the mountainous terrain. Our day of freeriding takes us from Schönjoch to Frommeskreuz before returning to the Frommes mountain hut. This is a magnificent route, we may even get to see a few chamois before finally heading towards the Urg Valley, an area that promises stupendous deep powder and scenic delights.

  • Après-freeride: time to wind down at the bar

Last but not least, bring this fantastic day to a close at the hotel bar with your freeride companions, and reminisce about the great time you’ve had together.
