As well as challenging summit hikes, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis also offers a wide range of walks for children and families. Here we’ve summarised the five most beautiful walks in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis for you. So that your walking holiday isn’t just full of stunning views, but also comfortable and without the need for lengthy route planning.

Tip: Our hiking guides offer a guided hike three times a week for SHF guests. With their expertise and friendly nature, they ensure that hiking in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is an unforgettable experience.

Hiking tour #1
Panoramic Trail

You set off from Schönjoch and begin your walk around the Zwölferkopf. Despite the modest elevation gain, you’ll soon feel the thrill of the heights, and you’ll want to go higher and further – all the way to the Fisser summit cross on the Oberer Sattelkopf. After just one hour’s walk, you’ll already be rewarded with a fascinating panoramic view at 2,596 metres above sea level.

The return route is straightforward and of a similar length. The walk requires only moderate fitness. You should be confident walking on narrow, stony paths.

Walking time: approx. 2 hours

A family-friendly walk. Recommended for children aged 8 and over.

Hiking tour #2
3,004-metre summit trek to the Furgler

As the last three-thousander in the Silvretta-Samnaun Group, the Furgler towers proudly over the Sonnenplateau. It watches over the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis region and keeps clouds and bad weather at bay. For our summit hike, we choose the easiest route via the Tieftalsee, which takes around 2.5 hours to walk.

Although the Furgler is one of the easiest three-thousand-metre peaks to climb, there is still a 700-metre climb to tackle. The route also includes coarse scree and steep sections where a firm grip is required. At the summit, however, you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with a magnificent view.

Walking time: approx. 4.5 hours with 700 metres of elevation gain

A hike suitable for anyone with some mountain experience. Recommended for children aged 10 and over.

Hiking tour #3
Alpine Rose Walk via Frommeskreuz

The Schönjoch, at 2,436 metres above sea level, is also the ideal starting point for this hike. The route begins on the north-facing side, leads down via the Naggalunsteig and later back up towards the summit via the Alpenrosenweg. Along the tree line, Swiss stone pines and alpine roses line the paths – and are at their most magnificent during the flowering season from June to mid-July. During breaks, you can enjoy the sweeping views down into the Inn Valley and towards Landeck. After climbing approximately 250 metres in altitude, you’ll reach the Frommes Lakes. From there, the route descends to the Frommes Alm and back to Fiss.

Walking time: approx. 5 hours

Suitable for all ages. Recommended for children aged 8 and over.

Hiking tour #4
Spinnsee Lakes

The ‘Urgtal’ is a place of unspoilt nature. A valley that has retained its unspoilt character. The exploration tour begins at the Schönjoch. Following the Spinseeweg trail, you’ll first enjoy the view down to the three villages of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. Later on, the narrow path becomes a little more challenging, not because of its steepness but due to the scree slopes you’ll need to cross. You continue hiking until you reach the ‘Urgbach’. From there, a steep climb of around 40 minutes lies ahead. The Upper Spinnsee is the perfect spot for a break. From there, the route descends to the valley floor. The final section takes us past the Urgsee to the Almbahn.

Walking time: approx. 5 hours

Suitable for all ages. Recommended for children aged 10 and over.

Hiking tour #5
Hike & Bike Tour with the SHF hiking guide

The Hike & Bike Tour offers a truly special experience: a combination of a hike, a break at an alpine hut and a bike ride awaits you.

The day begins with the ascent up to the Schönjoch, just as the sun is filling the whole valley. Once you reach the pass, you set off along the Goldenen-Mann-Weg and climb up to the Zwölferkopf via the Z1 viewing platform. Anyone who enjoys taking beautiful panoramic photos will already have had plenty of wonderful opportunities to do so...

... but the best is yet to come:

At the Zwölferkopf, you’ll hike along the ridge to the Oberer Sattelkopf and the Vorderen Brunnenkopf, then follow the Spinnseesteig to enjoy a change of perspective: from the south side, we cross over to the north side – and the unspoilt natural landscape here is just as fascinating as the surrounding mountain ranges.

The Spinnseesteig is an alpine adventure. It leads through stony terrain, and by now at the latest, you’ll be glad you’ve got good footwear to reach the unspoilt Urgtal valley. It’s a wonderful walk that even regular visitors may never have done before. You’ll be richly rewarded for the roughly three-hour hike: with the tranquillity of the Urgtal valley.

Unspoilt and unspoilt by development
The Urgtal Valley

The Urgtal valley is the jewel of the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis region. The Urgbach stream babbles alongside the footpath and flows into a small mountain lake. A few minutes later, you’ll reach the rustic Schöngampalm at 1,878 metres above sea level, where you’ll be served a proper alpine snack and delicious home-made treats for a cosy break. Children can play in the playground, whilst you find the time and peace to enjoy the beauty of nature, which is so unique here in the Urgtal.

The best feeling comes when, to round off the day, you swap your walking poles for a helmet and a bike – which are ready and waiting for you at the Schöngampalm – and cycle back to the village on a mountain bike along the 13-kilometre-long, clearly marked forest tracks. The view across the Inn Valley – to the Lechtal Alps, the Venet and the Tschirgant on the left, and the Kaunergrat Nature Park on the right – is unique and can only be experienced from here.

‘What I find so great about this tour is that there’s something for everyone: parents and children alike. Sporty types and nature lovers, because, as we say: ‘By gondola, on foot and by bike.’’
